Akwa United are joint top of the league with 9 points from four matches, what a way to begin NPFL 2017/2018 season, after defeating Niger Tornadoes, ending their unbeaten home record at the confluence stadium in Lokoja, prior to that match Niger Tornadoes didn't test a defeat at home since July 2010, ending Tornadoes run of 75 home league games with a sterling performance, Akwa United first away win of the season, Akwa United were the only team to win away from home in NPFL match day 4.
Akwa United will welcome struggling Kwara United That are languishing 20th on the log, 10 man Kwara United recorded their first win of the Season against Wikki Tourists of Bauchi at home in Illorin.

While speaking to the media department after the training session he said: " I can't wait to play my first competitive game for Akwa United " I have hired a personal trainer to help me get back in shape, " the prolific striker is expected to receive medical clearance in two weeks time. Etiboy continues his recovery from the knock he picked during the 2017 NPFL invitational tournament in ancient city of Kano.

It thrills the fans that the newly drafted in players have integrated themselves well into the team, the effort made by the chairman of Akwa United, Elder Paul Bassey along with the technical crew headed by Abdul Maikaba during the transfer window is paying off sooner rather than later.
