...Receives Eulogies from Major Stakeholders

The Executive Chairman,  Uyo Local Government Council, Elder (Hon) Imoh Okon, on Thursday, laid a foundation stone for the construction of a beffiting administrative block at the Council Secretariat.

Elder Okon who was accompanied to the building site by the political leaders of Uyo, shortly after a Stakeholders' meeting, explained that the new building is to accommodate more council staff for administrative purposes.

The council boss, while addressing major Stakeholders of Uyo on what he termed "half time report of my administration", via an effective PowerPoint presentation, divulged that, he has recorded tremendous achievements in all facets within the one and half year.

"This administration has kept the eye on the ball in terms of
Robust empowerment and rural development,
Improved IGR for wealth creation,
Active Social Welfare and Educational/Health Services, as well as

Renewed Partnership for good Governance", Okon stated.

The 'Mayor of Uyo' said that the half time was used in laying a solid foundation for a sustainable development in the key areas of Mentorship,
Entrepreneurship Co-Operative, Skills Acquisition Scholarship/Grant,
General Empowerment of women on various trades, Rural Development
of Roads, portable water and Electricity.


He added that his administration has recorded huge success in active health, educational and Social service welfare
health
by constantly Updating Primary Health Centres through continuous funding and provision of equipment, drugs and consumables, health awareness/sensitization activities, review of sanitation and health enforcement exercise
and visits to Pregnant/Nursing mothers within the local government.


On Social Welfare, the Chairman listed
Continuous support to Student Bodies, Churches, CBOs and NGOs
Sensitization Seminars/Workshops on under aged parenthood and cultism. "We also engaged on Unparralled visits and support at burials, wedding, child birth/dedication, etc.
Staff motivation; 2019 Valentine Day Celebration with Staff of Uyo Local Government Council" he added.


He appreciated the State Governor, His Excellency Mr Udom Emmanuel for his continuous support to Uyo and described him as a man of peace, seasoned technocrat with a high and undisputed level of integrity and fear of God.

The grassroots leader appreciated the political stakeholders of Uyo for their numerous contributions and support for the progress of the Local Government.

"Let me also appreciate all the political stakeholders of Uyo across party lines for the wide acceptability that I have enjoyed since the beginning of this tenure. I doff my cap for the manager; the leadership and entire membership of my great party the PDP who commissioned me to spearhead the strategy for Uyo at this time".

Speaker after speaker at the occasion, poured encomiums on the council's performance since the assumption of office of the Ikono- Uyo born Chairman and appealed for maximum support and cooperation from all and sundry in Uyo, to enable Okon achieve his set goals.


Chairman, Uyo Capital City Development Authority (UCCDA), Prince Enobong Uwah, who referred to Imoh Okon as a " Child of God", said his government is Godly and in a hurry to put smiles on the faces of Uyo people, however, beseeched all to support government at all levels.

Member representing Uyo State Constituency, Hon. Anietie Eka, former Chairman of the Council and a chieftain of the APC, Hon Ekerette Ekpenyong, Leader, Uyo Legislative Council, Hon. Nathaniel Sébastian, an elder statesman; Chief Okokon Etuk, former Transition Chairman, Barr Mfon Ben, a chieftain of the APC; Mr Enefiok Ekefre and a representative of the Paramount Ruler, Uyo Local Government Area, His Royal Majesty, Edidem Sylvanus Okon, amongst others, rose in one voice and called for support for the Council Chairman, Elder Imoh Okon.

They also sent a warm appeal to the State Governor, Udom Emmanuel to consider constructing what they termed "a replacement  building" to replace some of the Uyo properties donated to government.
