SPOTLIGHT ON HON.MONDAY EYO'S PERFORMANCE AS MEMBER REPRESENTING UYO STATE CONSTITUENCY,AKWA IBOM STATE HOUSE OF ASSEMBLY

On the 4th of June,2015,the sixth session of the Assembly was formally inaugurated signaling the commencement of the official functions of the twenty six members. This brief report highlights the performance of Hon. Monday Eyo as it relates to relationship with his constituents so far in less than three years.

To begin with his open door policy approach,the amiable lawmaker has ensured that the electorates have unhindered access to him at home and in office.There is nothing like visitors notebooks or slips.Through this, interactions steam smoothly both ways to share ideas and contribute collectively to advance Uyo.

Hon.Eyo steps further to visit and also host political elders as well as other constituents periodically to update them of development in the Assembly and the State. He is visibly a youth friendly representative, that is why his presence anywhere attracts hordes of young people from diverse walks of life.

In terms of educational support to youths,the lawmaker who is a passionate believer that the only key to liberation is knowledge, has on his existing scholarship list four undergraduates studying courses in Medicine and Engineering. This is a far cry from the queue of indigent students he doles out ceaseless assistance to every school term.

He has used his office to facilitate admissions for many youths to higher schools of learning.Also he has not failed to identify with activities of students associations,which in appreciation the Uyo Students Association awarded him the most students friendly lawmaker.

Also,within his capacity he instituted a yearly grant for hundred students in higher institution and has graciously shown care by adopting two orphans pupils to train to university level.One beneficiary is the child of an Uyo indigene who lost his life during the Reigners Church disaster.

To further support qualitative education for the common class, he took off one hundred and fifty pupils from the bare floor to sit on fifty three seaters benches at Ifa Ikot Okpon,Etoi Clan.The village of a former council boss.

As his constituency projects,he has renovated a three classroom block at Ikot Obio Mkpong,Ikono Clan;a befitting library has been constructed at Ikot Ntuen in Oku Clan;at Atan in Offot Clan he has built a civic center,while in Ifa Ikot Idang there is massive electrification project.

Hon.Monday Eyo popularly called 'Murray' has graded roads in Etoi and Oku clans so far.While recently he provided transformers to Ndueotong Oku and Nsukara communities in Oku and Offot clans respectively.

Talking of empowerment, he has trained over three hundred and fifty women in various self sustaining skills.He choosed eleven women and empowered with one hundred thousand naira each to infuse into their small scale businesses.The lawmaker also assisted groups like Mboho Iman Uyo;Former PDP Councillors Forum;staff of Uyo origin in the Assembly with hundred thousand naira each to register cooperative society to facilitate government assistance to them.

His assistance to numerous functions like child naming, burials, marriage ceremonies etc.cannot be listed for reasons of confidentiality.These grassroots gestures are unavoidable in political spheres in the State.

He has built a security post at the police station at Shelter Afrique to support the agency to ensure security and peace around Etoi Clan and indeed Uyo.

His recommendations and sponsorship of over sixty youths during employment into National Task Force and  Peace Corp as well as other vacancies are commendable strides to make the people proud of him.

Provision of stalls at Ibom Plaza for women and youths of Uyo to be gainfully engaged has not escaped the appreciative note of the people.
