AK LG Election: PDP won't go campaigning on empty words ---- Speaker Luke ...as opposition APC loses only serving member By Ifiok Itiaba

The Speaker of Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Barr Onofiok has expressed optimism that the local government election slated for December 2nd, 2017 in the state will record a resounding victory for the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP.
Delivering a good will message, Thursday at Uyo Township Stadium during the flag off of campaigns by the Peoples Democratic Party for its candidates ahead of the forthcoming local government election, Barr Luke explained that the umbrella party has been able to earn for itself the people's love following its track record of performance in the state which could be witnessed during the past and current administration.
"What has given us the audacity to say this is the record of performance of the PDP which has been attained both during past and present governments. The roads crossing the length and breadth of the state, linking headquarters of our local government areas were done and are still being done by the PDP.
Our people are happy. The women, students youths and everyone has felt the impact of the PDP government.

Today in the nooks and crannies of our communities, small businesses are springing up, our young people are having sustainable means of livelihood, our women are been given grants to do business, our students and youth are being supported in education. These and many more are the reasons PDP will win in the 31 LGAs and the 339 wards; we don't go campaigning on empty words.
As your commanders in the respective state constituencies, we will campaign in all the villages,, wards and clans to make sure PDP wins".
The Speaker who was flanked by his deputy and members of the House, informed that one of the members, Hon Asuquo Archibong, who was elected to represent Urueoffong Oruko State Constituency on the platform of the All Progressives Congress, APC, has notified him of his decision to join the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP.
Describing the action as a 25th anniversary gift, Speaker Luke informed Governor Udom Emmanuel that the legislature will formally receive the news on Friday at plenary.
Meanwhile, National Chairman of the party, Senator Ahmed Markarfi who led some exco members of the party from the national secretariat to the state, affirmed that what he has witnessed in the state was an indication that PDP is Iike a religion in Akwa Ibom State.
