NUJ Zonal Conference: Works Commissioner to be honored as grand Patron - By Dopse Eberefiak

The forthcoming Nigeria Union of Journalists, NUJ, South-South (Zone F) zonal conference holding Friday, November 10, at Emerald Event Center, Uyo, will witnessed the decoration of Akwa Ibom Works Commissioner Akparawa Ephraim Inyang as the 'Grand Patron' of NUJ in the zone.
The Akwa Ibom State Chairman of NUJ, Elder Patrick Albert gave the hint while addressing newsmen in his office yesterday.

According to him, the choice of Akparawa Inyang despite other nominees that were filed in from other states making up the zone was based on his lofty contributions to the development of the media, society at-large and his track records in providing quality services to the people, etc, adding that amongst the nominees, Akparawa Inyang fittingly met the measurements for the award.
He noted as 'Grand Patron' Ephraim Inyang is expected to play roles of a 'father' which involves being a pillar to the NUJ family in the zone. Hear him: "As a Grand Patron, he can be called upon or relied on for support anytime by NUJ within the six states in the zone".

The NUJ boss who also noted that it is the first time the zone is giving such award expressed delight that it is an Akwa Ibom son that was picked for the award, adding that the development has put the state on limelight. He said the development is not an avenue to exploit him but a mark of encouragement.


He also expressed optimism that the conference which will begin on Thursday will be unique even as he stated invitations have been extended to prominent personalities in the state and beyond, including the NUJ National President Abdulwaheed Odusile etc.
He mentioned that the agenda of the conference will touch salient issues such as the welfare of journalists in the region, their security, individual and government cooperation, etc.
Hear him: " The focused at every point in time that journalists gather is to discussed our welfare, security, individual and government cooperation and welfare packages".
He also mentioned that the would be a paper presentation on the theme of the conference "The role of the media in harnessing human resources for state developmen" by Prof. Effiong Johnson, Faculty of Arts, University of Uyo. According to the NUJ boss the event is opened to all journalists in the state.
