LAGOS LODGE PROTEST: AKWA IBOM CONSCIENCE REACHES AGREEMENT WITH NIGERIA POLICE ON VENUE, MODALITIES

A delegation of the Akwa Ibom Conscience met with the Akwa Ibom State Commissioner of Police, CP Muazu Zubairu Halilu on Wednesday 9th August, 2017 at the State Police Command to discuss modalities for the forthcoming protest against the decision by the Akwa State governor, Mr Udom Emmanuel in conjunction with the House of Assembly to construct a new governor's lodge in Lagos.
The State Police Boss advised the group to conduct themselves with decorum during the protest and ensure that it is done peacefully.
The delegation from Akwa Ibom Conscience which was led by Barr. Augustine Asuquo, in their remarks assured the police that the protest will be peaceful and devoid of rancor.
Following negotiations, it was agreed that the meeting point/venue for the protest should be moved from Ibom Plaza to C.K.S. Primary School situated at Wellington Bassey Way ,Uyo.
It was also agreed that the protesters will deliver their message to the State Governor but they should not go beyond the Area A Police Station at Wellington Bassey Way, just before the Governor's office before moving to the State House of Assembly at Udo Udoma Avenue in Uyo.
Meanwhile, the group has also notified the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) and the State Security Service (SSS) in Akwa Ibom State for maximum security during Friday's protest.
The Lagos State Commissioner of Police has been duly notified of Thursday's protest in Lagos State.
Akwa Ibom Conscience hereby appeals to interested members of the public that wish to participate in these democratic exercises, both in Lagos on Thursday and Akwa Ibom on Friday, to desist from any form of disturbance as such will not be tolerated.
LAGOS PROTEST:
The Lagos protest will hold tomorrow Thursday 10th August, 2017 by 8AM at the Akwa Ibom State Liaison Office in Lagos located at Ajose Adeogun Street (Access from Eko Hotel round about, before the Zenith Bank Headquarters), Victoria Island, Lagos.
UYO PROTEST:
The Uyo protest will hold on Friday 11th August, 2017 by 10AM. It will take-off from C.K.S. Primary School, Wellington Bassey Way in Uyo, to the Government House area (before Area A Police Station) and from there to the Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly..
Please note that there will be no "African time".
DRESS CODE:
Intending protesters are advised to wear a black or blue jeans trouser/skirt with a black T-shirt or white T-shirt.
