I remember some time ago in 2012 where the then Governor of the State, Chief Godswill Akpabio made a statement about the mentality of an average Akwa Ibom person.
According to him, "it is time to stop the politics of pull him down, it is time to stop the politics of blackmails, criticisms, and propagandas".
"I know we've become too used to the fight him lifestyle, but i want to tell you today that the colonial masters whom we were always fighting are no longer around, today the Leaders you have are all your brothers and sisters. It's time to stop fighting, if there are legends that are worth celebrations, it's time to celebrate them now they are alive and not when they are gone". And today i tell you, Uncle MO is that legend that is worth to be celebrated.
Some people who think they would have done better than Uncle MO has tried to cast the stone of propagandas, criticisms, and blackmails on this man, though it's our normal mentality of playing politics, that is "the politics of pull him down". We believe if our brother who is at the top do not fall, we can never get to the top, but i tell you today that if you succeed getting to the top because of pulling your brother down, someone who calls himself your brother will also pull you down in a short while to get there.
I don't believe in factless criticism, i believe in getting facts before engaging on constructive criticisms, though it's never to pull you down, but to make you sit up on your daily runs. In order to get these facts, i went on personal findings about the Deputy Governor, believe me when i say i am shocked to the bone after realizing the things done by this man in order to drive home effective and smooth governance.
Do you know presently, the Deputy Governor is sponsoring not less than 250 university students in school, paying their school charges, accomodations and feeding?
Do you know that this same man single handedly is sponsoring about 115 youths on skill acquisition training outside the state?
Do you also know that about 52 widows today can boast of their private business courtesy of Sir Mo?
There is one thing we have failed to understand, it is not everyone who find pleasure in self publicity. There are people who have done more for the people, and because of no publicity people think he has done nothing, It's time to change that olden mentality of ours and join hands with Sir Mo to give Gov. Udom the supports needed to run an inclusive governments.
After mentioning all these, what is really your problem with Uncle MO?
As for me, i have agreed to celebrate him because he is a living legend.
May the blessings be upon Uncle MO and the son Frank Ekpo.
