Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly Speaker Appoint New Special Assistants

The speaker of the Akwa Ibom state House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Barr. Onofiok Luke, has approved the appointments of Mrs Uduak Utip-Ekong as Special Assistant, Media and Communications, and Mr Efiofiok Dickson Ukpong as Special Assistant, Youth Affairs, to the Honourable Speaker.
Uduak Utip-Ekong holds a Diploma in Mass Communication from The Polytechnic, Calabar, and a BA in Communication Arts from the University of Uyo. She is a producer and a broadcast journalist with the Akwa Ibom state Broadcasting Corporation, AKBC. She began her career as a junior reporter in AKBC in 1994. She has served for 23 years at the corporation’s News and Current Affairs Directorate as news reporter and editor. Uduak at various times served as correspondent to the state Government House under Governors Victor Attah and Godswill Akpabio as well as the former governor’s wife, Mrs. Alison Attah. She is also the Akwa Ibom chapter chairperson, Nigeria Association of Women Journalists (NAWOJ). She hails from Ibeno Local Government Area of Akwa Ibom state.
Efiofiok Ukpong holds a postgraduate diploma in Environmental Management and a B.Sc. in Mathematics from the University of Uyo. A former national president of Nsit Ibom Students Worldwide, Efiofiok has been involved in various youth development programmes across the state. He is from Nsit Ibom Local Government Area of Akwa Ibom state.
The appointments of the Special Assistants to the Right Honourable Speaker take immediate effect.
