In carrying out its service to humanity, ImaBridge Africa a Non Governmental Organisation based in United States, has embarked on a free healthcare outreach to residents of Itu Local Government Area of Akwa Ibom State.

The beneficiaries, numbering over 2000, enjoyed free medical check, eye check and consultancy, while those who required special attention were assigned to a doctor to be treated on Monday January, 2018.

Founded by a Chicago based Priest, Rev. Fr. Godwin Nsikan Ubom Asuquo  noted that the impact of the initiative on the community was immeasurable, owing to the fact that health is wealth.

He said they carry out this type of project every year in different local government areas in collaboration with volunteers and local authorities.

"We look at communities around us that need intervention and support them as much as we can. We have other services to render throughout the year like the water project and education services", he said.

Speaking with newsmen in his office, the facilitator of the project, Mr. Akan Okon said he was touched by the realization that the economic situation of the country had made most locals unable to afford healthcare or visit health facilities for basic medical checks which was detrimental to their health and wellbeing.

He said Governor Udom Emmanuel has invested much in the health sector through renovation of health care facilities, procurement of State of the arts medical equipments.

Mr. Okon who is the state Commissioner for Housing and Special Duties said the unprecedented turnout witnessed during the exercise at the council secretariat Mbak Itam, was a prove that the initiative was well received and appreciated by the people.

He reiterated that the team from Imabridge Africa was made up of seasoned professionals who were specialists in various areas and assured that post operation arrangements were put in place to ensure proper post operation management for operation beneficiaries.
