The people of Nsit Ubium Local Government Area, yesterday gathered together to beg Hon. Blessing Mbakara, to contest for the House of Assembly position, with a promise to repudiate any form of imposition by Senator Effiong Bob.
Hon. Isaac Sam, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) chapter officer in the Area, described Hon. Blessing Mbakara Pius, as a visionary, dedicated and progressive minded leader, adding that, if given a chance, she will bring effective representation to Nsit Ubium.
"The certitude that we have not had any Lawmaker from our axis has perturbed us since 1999, when we welcomed PDP to our communities, we are grateful to God that it is now the turn of Ubium Ward 2 to produce a Lawmaker in the state House of Assembly, therefore, we must work together as a team, for success will surely come", he said.
He praised Nsit Ubium people for believing in the government of Governor Udom Emmanuel, and said that by becoming a member,House of Assembly, Hon. Blessing will bring development, job creation and empowerment to the Area.
Also speaking at the event, held in Ikot Esen Ubium, home town of the People's choice House of Assembly Hopeful,
the Councillor representing Ubium North Ward One, Hon. Atiang Dickson, said, "Nsit Ubium belongs to us, nobody should impose a candidate on us, the Chairmanship seat during the last Local government elections, was zoned to a community that has never produced a Chairman, now that it's our turn, we must not be hoodwink", he said.
It will be well if Ubium Ward 2 is given a chance in government, a father that will all his belongings to the third child in the family should do well to revisit his will while he is still breathing, because once he is dead, the first and second born will wage war with the third child, he added.
He encouraged the people to rally around Hon. Mbakara, to accomplish the desire of the people, which he said, usurp greed and personal interest.
Mrs Elizabeth Mbek, who spoke on behalf of the women, promised Hon. Blessing Mbakara Pius, the support of Nsit Ubium women in the forth coming House of Assembly race.
Interacting with newsmen, shortly after the event, International President, Onofiok Luke Believers (OLB), Engr. Prince Okpo, said the event was aimed at begging Hon. Mbakara, to contest for Nsit Ubium seat in State House of Assembly come 2019 elections, maintaining that she (Hon. Mbakara) showed class with superfluous performance as a Councillor, she empowered 23 people, train many in different trades of their choice, built a standard civic education centre in Ikot Esen and paid school fees for undergraduates. She should be given a chance at the State House of Assembly.
He described Mbakara as a grassroot politician who has gained the confidence of Nsit Ubium people, and appealed for fairness from the Stakeholders.
"The antecedents speak for her, she was a very good representative at the local government council, she did very well, that is why we came here, we gathered here, we are pleading with her to come out and contest. She is a core grassroot politician, she lives in the village with the people and know their problems.
"When the Chairmanship Position came to Nsit Ubium, they zoned it to Nsit and it was zone to a minor Ward that has never tasted power, so we believe since the House of Assembly seat is being zoned to Ubium North, we expect our leaders to come together and look at areas that have not been privileged to have an elected representative", he said.
On her part, the House of Assembly Hopeful, Mrs Blessing Mbakara, while fielding questions from newsmen, thanked the people for having confidence in her and finding her qualified for the position, saying, she has accepted the call to aspire for Nsit Ubium State Constituency, in 2019.
The former Councillor, Hon. Blessing Mbakara revealed that she has special interest in community development and human empowerment, adding that Nsit Ubium will see her best when she is given a chance.
While acknowledging the roles of Nsit Ubium leaders to the development of the area, she described women as wary administrators of men and resources, stating that she will reinforce and exhibit quality display if given a chance.
"I have special interest in community development, I have live with the people, as a Councillor, I have interacted with them, I have built a standard Civic Education center, I know their problems and I have also given empowerment, especially, to the women, as startups for small and medium scale businesses", she said.
Others who spoke at the event, includes the chapter women leader of PDP in the Area, Uduak Friday, who also endorsed the aspiration of Hon. Blessing Mbakara Pius, requested for unity from the people, to secure success in the end.
