Barr. Ekemini Uba, Ikono Local Government Area Transition Committee Chairman, yesterday went on a Working Visit/ Inspection Tour to College of Science and Technology located at nung ukim Ikono.
Barr. Uba in his remarks thanked, Mr. Udom Emmanuel, Governor of Akwa Ibom State for upgrading the status of the Institution from College of Arts and Science to its present status as College of Science and Technology and for also constructing the road leading to the Institution.
He as well, expressed his gratitude to God for making the creation of the Institute possible about twenty years ago which later metamorphosed into College of Art and Science.
The Chairman commended the Acting Rector, Elder Vincent Essien for keeping the Institution afloat and thanked the Staff and Management for cooperating with the Acting Rector as well as the Student Union Government for their sinergy with the Management of the Institution.
Barr. Ekemini Uba, called on Government to provide security and perimeter fence around the Institution especially around the girls hostel were the security treat is highest.
He also called on Government to make funds available to facilitate Infrastructural and Personnel Development and Accreditation.
The Chairman who passed a vote of confidence on the acting Rector and his Management on behalf of Ikono Local Government Council and Ikono People called on the State Government to confirm the Acting Recctor as substantial Rector for the Institution on the ground of his good performance.
