The man, UBONG KING- By Saviour Udoh

 Dr. Ubong King, the Group Managing Director and Executive Officer of Protection  Plus Services Limited ( PPSL) told the inspirational story of his little and enduring beginning in a bid to inspire and encourage the Nigerian youths. He drew from the scene of his proposal to his wife, Amb. Unyime Ivy- King, few years ago.

Mr. King, in a social media post that got bloggers and other social media users busy, maintained that when he proposed to his wife  in 1997, he did so  without a ring because he couldn't afford one at the time. He further disclosed he was squatting in a friend's house in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State, Nigeria.

 Surprisingly, his wife said "YES" even when she knew that he had nothing. Amidst several doses of discouragement dished out to her she stayed resolute to her decision. Mr. King noted that his wife was asked: "why stay with Ubong when he can't buy you a bottle of coca-cola?".

When they got married in 2002, they were still squatting in a friend's house in Lagos for about one year till they got their mindset right to get  their own house in Alagbado.

 They had to start with one mattress on the floor, a fairly used  carpet, a ceiling fan to complement while the windows had  old newspapers for a blind since he couldn't afford curtains. He worked as a security coordinator in  Nigeria Bottling company, Apapa, bottlers of Coca-Cola drink. 

King wanted to be responsible enough to be able to buy his wife a bottle of Coca-Cola. The drive to be able to refresh his growing family helped him to be able to buy his wife and kids Coca-Cola drinks at anytime. In 2015, he decided to buy a vessel from  that drive and named it after his wife (MV IVYKING).

Ubong King is a man who fought himself to be quiet on his testimony, but as a servant of the most High God, he is obligated to tell the world what God did and can do.
His business had been challenged and he needed  new equipments to be able to compete. He had discussed with at least four banks to fund the purchase of the equipments  and they promised delivery but NONE of the banks fulfilled their promises.

Ubong King is a man who has dared the odds, challenged status quos and has emerged victorious and still standing. He is a man who has got what young Nigerians and business executives need to hear.
