OTUEKONG ASIKPO LAUDS POLICE BOSS/YOUTH PARLEY

A foremost youth leader in Offot Clan of Uyo, Otuekong Emem Denis Asikpo, has expressed the belief that Akwa Ibom’s new  Commissioner of Police Mr. Adeyemi Ogunjemilusi, has taken bold steps in strengthening community policing in the state.
Asikpo who is also the Youth President of Ekpri Nsukara Offot youth council hailed the police boss  for his wisdom and ingenuity to invite the entire youth leaders in the state for a security conference in the state police headquarters recently.

He appreciated the commissioner for police for spending good hours to advise and educate the youth leaders in the State to see the need to carryout violence free leadership in the state and how to conduct their subjected youths to copy same in all their operations.
The eminent youth leader confessed that no commissioner of police had ever tried such conference with the youth leaders since the state creation in 1987 and therefore pleaded with the new police boss in the state to continue in such spirit maintaining that the new commissioner of police is very lucky to arrive in Uyo at the time Uyo is properly organized both in traditional and political matters.

Otuekong Asikpo assured the commissioner of police full youth support throughout his stay and service in the state.
He also thanked the frontline leaders in the state who were present in the conference including Hon. Onofiok Luke, Hon. Emmanuel Bassey, Hon. Kenneth Okon, Hon. (captain) Idongesit, Mr. Iwa udofia, PDP youth leader, APC youth leader, etc, for coming together to project the interest of the youths.

In his words, “What the commissioner of police is beginning to do in our state is a very good thing, before now, most youth leaders used to be far away from the state security network but with what the new commissioner is packaging at hand, the entire youth leadership in the state has become a one family matter with the police command. I am so happy to be in innovational partnership. To me you cannot conduct a fair community policing without involving the youth leadership.”

“We are the people that can easily understand the junctions, corners and hideouts in our communities and can explain such things to the police better for their security delivery in the area. I appreciate the commissioner of police and his introduction will give him a hundred per cent support from us the youths.  We are all enlightened youth leaders and we cannot give any room for violent leadership. We are too civilized to be misled by anybody or group, we love what the commissioner is doing in our time,” he added.
