I'VE NEVER HEARD UDOM AND AKPABIO QUARRELING– Chris Ekpenyong

Obong Chris Ekpeyong

Obot Akara strong man and former deputy governor, Obong Chris Ekpenyong has extended a shoulder of support to Governor Udom Emmanuel and has dismissed current media reports alleging enmity between Annang leaders and the governor over marginalization in projects delivery.

Ekpenyong who was fielding questions from newsmen in Uyo commended Governor Udom Emmanuel for initiating developmental programmes in his hometown, Obot Akara which is in Ikot Ekpene Senatorial District.

On the alleged frosty relationship between Chief Godswill Akpabio and his successor Governor Udom Emmanuel, Dr. Ekpenyong dismissed such as a baseless assumption.
“It is just an imagination of certain individuals who want to distract the Governor and Senate Minority Leader. I have never seen the two people quarrelling, I have never heard of any squabbles or any misunderstanding between the duo. What should have brought the misunderstanding when the former campaigned for the incomer, the man who is occupying the office today? He took him round the state, he was abused by certain people for probably single handedly nominating Deacon Udom Emmanuel as Governor of Akwa Ibom State. How do you think it would have been possible for the two people to fight because of any issue? People are just misunderstanding them”, he concluded.

“My Local Government Area Obot Akara is a beneficiary of Governor Udom’s kindness and magnanimity; a development he claimed eluded the area throughout previous administrations.
The elder statesman urged Governor Udom Emmanuel to remain focused in his agenda of developing the state and particularly appealed to him to initiate more developmental projects in Obot Akara.
“He should not misapply resources, he should come and complete the twin bridge which he started in Obot Akara, he should also commence the one he promised us that will link Obot Akara and Ikot Ekpene and then do few other roads. We have a serious ravine at Nkor –those are the things he should use money for.”
